Dear Hearts,
Do you know how dearly you are held in the heart of the One we call the Beloved? Do you know how the Voice within you that whispers to you in the night, in your dreams, longs to commune with you?
There is an old song called “Dear Hearts and Gentle People” that I used to listen to over and over. It seemed to carry the nostalgic message that sparked something very familiar in my own heart longings. Dear hearts and gentle people have become those I carry in the sanctuary of my own heart, and it is expanding from those I love and know, from my home town, to all towns I have ever lived in, to those I have visited, and to all those I am discovering in my wandering during the night.
Slowly, the love I feel seems to encircle all people in countries across the globe. The ability of the heart to expand in the spirit of love to care about our brothers and sisters is not limited by anything except our own fears and uncertainty about those we do not know or understand, who may be different from us. It is such a basic reality and truth, it seems I would not need to even articulate it. Yet, as a global community, we have not emerged from our cocoons enough to find our wings and to discover our Oneness.
I write to you this morning to invite you to let Love open the door to your hearts and souls and minds to become aware of a Beloved Presence that wants to listen to your every word, to hear your every cry, to witness every tear, to share your laughter, and to walk with you wherever you go, whatever you do, whoever you are with, in the fullness of Love that desires relationship with you and seeks your well being.
I am intensely private, and it is only the infinite generosity of Divine Love that could call me out of the enclosure and sanctuary of my life to write to you from my heart.
I don’t need to recount the disasters and catastrophes that change our lives daily. I don’t need to speak of all the pain and loss and loneliness that breaks our hearts. You carry your own experiences of the many ways our hearts are opened by what happens to us. It guides us to feel the need for something and someone larger than the self we believe we are. We quickly realize that our own resources fail us, and we scan the horizon of the universe and cry out for help.
We are all looking for something more whether we tuck it away in our subconscious, or whether we are acutely aware of the hunger for someone we can trust, for the One great heart that embraces all others.
The ancient ones were wise not to name this Presence, for it is unspeakable and unknowable in our human limitation. We can call it God, the Source, All that is, the Beloved, but any name falls short of that which harbors us in its truth and Light, and at the same time dwells within us.
It is a day of remembrance, and a day to open to all that wants to be known within each one of us. I wanted to feel the comfort of your dear hearts today.
Love, Naomi
