gazing at the summer sun

slipping from the sky at twilight

trees billowing green

all around me

 

a quiet peace arises

in my heart

 

words fall away

drifting and dancing

settling to earth

seeding unseen energy that

 will show its face

in the sudden appearance

of wildflowers in

 some unexpected place

 

no energy is lost

in the cycling seasons

no reason is needed

for nature to know

what to do

with the residue

of my mind

 

 

 a trace of kindness

in the solitude

is companion enough

my heart is full of love

for the universe
